In 2001, after completing an apprenticeship in Farriery, I set up my own business as a registered Farrier. However, a client had a nervous horse, which was difficult to shoe, and no matter how quiet I was, it did not seem to make a lot of difference. I realised something was missing, and I did not know what else to do. Luckily, I saw an article in a local magazine, advertising a three day level one parelli clinic, which claimed to develop your relationship with your horse. I asked the owner of the nervous horse if I could take him on this course, and see if it would help me to shoe him, and maybe help the horse realise that what I wanted to do was not such a bad thing! The owner agreed, and allowed us to take part as long as I paid for it. After day one, the horse made such a huge change, and I realised how little I knew, and how much there was to learn about horses, and ultimately, myself. I quit my business as a full time farrier, and became a working student under Dave Stuart at the original U.K. Savvy centre, and a year later, graduated level 3. I then went to study more intensively at the International Study centre for nearly two and a half years in total. I became a Parelli Professioanl in 2004, and specialised in learning the art of young horse starting, concentrating in developing my horsemanship before my teachermanship, so to have more to offer my students. I returned back to Wltshire, England in 2006. My passion is young horse starting and horse development. In March 2009, I was awarded my 3star as a Horse Specialist by Pat, and rated as the only horse specialist in the U.K. I am now based in Wilshire, at the JR Foundation Station, a facility designed for developing horses, naturally, where regular clinics are held. As well as developing horses in the U.K, I travel worldwide with an aim to give horses the start they deserve, regardless of where they are from, or what they will eventually excell in. It would be my pleasure to help you and your horse, and look forward to meeting you in the future For more info about James and his Foundation station, please see www.jr-foundationstation.com.
